Electrical Engineer - NERC Compliance Engineer

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain electrical system designs using AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks
Perform root cause analysis on electrical failures or non-compliance issues within power systems and control equipment
Design and implement FPGA-based solutions utilizing SystemVerilog, VHDL, and simulation tools like Simulink and MATLAB
Create detailed schematics and PCB layouts for control panels and embedded systems using CAD tools
Conduct signal processing analysis and develop firmware for programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ARM microcontrollers, Arduino platforms, and other embedded systems
Ensure compliance with NERC standards by reviewing system design documents and implementing necessary controls
Support manufacturing processes including surface mount technology (SMT) soldering, circuit assembly, and vision inspection systems
Perform debugging of electrical hardware and firmware using tools such as oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and logic analyzers
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on project scheduling, system integration, and technical documentation
Conduct mechanical integration tasks involving Revit or Mechanical engineering principles as needed for system installation or upgrades
Qualification
Required
Strong background in electrical engineering
Experience in FPGA development
Experience in PCB design
Experience in system simulation
Utility scale experience
Proficiency in FPGA development with SystemVerilog
Strong knowledge of PCB design, schematics creation, and surface mount technology (SMT)
Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks for system layout and mechanical-electrical integration
Expertise in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, Perl scripting for system modeling and automation tasks
Familiarity with NEC standards related to electrical safety and reliability in power systems
Hands-on experience with firmware development for microcontrollers such as ARM-based processors or Arduino platforms
Ability to perform root cause analysis on electrical failures; troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes and ohmmeters
Knowledge of signal processing techniques relevant to power quality monitoring or sensor data analysis
Experience with manufacturing processes including soldering techniques (surface mount technology) and vision inspection systems
Strong understanding of electrical systems design, system integration, project scheduling, and compliance documentation
Preferred
Experience with VHDL is a plus
Mechanical knowledge related to system installation or maintenance is advantageous
