Responsibilities

Analysis of chemical materials
Development and characterization of novel materials to include polymers and thermoplastics
Testing, evaluation, and modeling materials against traditional chemical warfare agents, non-traditional agents, and toxic industrial chemicals (TICs) and toxic industrial materials (TIMs)
Work under the direction of DEVCOM CBC Principal Investigator and other research scientists, chemists, and engineers

Required

BS degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or Engineering or other equivalent scientific field with 5-8 years of prior relevant experience or advanced degree with 2-4 years relevant experience
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance with potential for Top Secret Clearance
Demonstrate successful experience in performing research and development in areas of polymer and thermoplastic development
Demonstrated experience using technologies and applications such as melt spinning, melt rheology, dynamic scanning calorimeter, ASTM mechanical testing, and microscopy to include scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
Demonstrated experience in filtration technologies for particulate capture and measurement and familiarity with N95 and High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) development

Preferred

Demonstrated proficiency in organic synthesis
Familiarity with computational fluid dynamic (CFD) modeling for vapors and particulates
Knowledge of computer aided design (CAD)
Knowledge of multilayer thermoplastics
