The Service Technician I – Dedicated is responsible for providing basic technical support for telecommunications systems, including the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of related equipment and peripherals.

Responsibilities

Installs various types of low-voltage communications cable and wire, testing to ensure installation meets minimum transmission line standards and characteristics

Installs and tests telecommunications terminal equipment and peripherals

Responds to service requests as required

Performs Move, Add and Change activities as required

Participates in new installation and major upgrade activities

Interprets and uses worksheets, service orders, blueprints and other documentation to ensure proper installation of products

Prepares and maintains installation records and documentation

Required

Ability to respond effectively to common inquiries or complaints from clients

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Ability to work long, irregular hours, and be able to return to work on an on-call basis

Preferred

High school diploma or equivalent (GED); some college and telephony courses

Experience installing telecommunications equipment
