Principal Test Automation Development Engineer

Responsibilities
Develop test hardware and software solutions from requirements definition through build and integration processes, followed by deployment to manufacturing or customer facilities
Develop test solutions and architecture using your skills in RF, analog, digital, communications methods, instrumentation control, operator ergonomics, production-line needs, mechanical systems, power systems, environmental systems, and fluid control systems
Lead a multi-disciplined team through program execution and deployment
Schedule development and tracking for program planning/execution, while tracking any deviations from plan to actual
Prepare and clearly present your work product at project status meetings internally and with the customer
Understand and responsibility to meet established project budget, schedule, and performance commitments
Develop proposals for new tester solutions including initial architecture, schedule, budget, and FTEs based on customer-provided requirements
Provide SME input to technical user documentation and providing on-site training to final operators
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering design and development, with leadership experience, preferably related to test equipment development efforts
Experience working in the engineering laboratory and transitioning automated solutions to production environments
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, decision-making and problem-solving skills, working individual tasks as well as within a team environment, and technical writing skills (MS Word, MX Excel, MS Visio)
Experience with hardware station design utilizing rack instrumentation, PXIe/MXI, application development, thermal environment and controls, fluids environment and controls where the DUT is often immersed in a liquid and tested at specific temperatures
Experience with digital, RF, power supply test hardware and software design
In depth knowledge of computer architecture, National Instruments equipment, PCs, UPS, thermal chambers, interconnects/interfaces and standard communication protocols
Experience developing test solutions for global markets, understanding the various country regulations for test solutions
Proven skills in software development and integration using tools including NI TestStand, LabVIEW and/or LabWindows (CVI) and Python
Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to enable effective personnel interaction and collaboration with a multi-discipline team. Examples of this include defining and leading development discussions and design reviews
Ability to function autonomously with limited supervision, as an individual contributor, within a multi-functional team environment
Proven project leadership
Preferred
Medical device experience
Contract Medical Device experience (CDMO)
Understanding of engineering processes: CMMI, and 6-Sigma
SolidWorks experience
