Responsibilities
Influences PE projects using concurrent engineering principles to leverage the supply base’s resources and proposing alternatives to product architecture and processes in order to achieve the best quality, lead times and cost
Identifies, evaluates, and negotiates with suppliers that offer a competitive advantage to the organization. Leads all quoting, new product development contractual negotiations, and award of business for sourcing that meets company requirements for PE projects while executing commodity sourcing strategies
Manages the organization's RFP process and evaluates potential suppliers to ensure that cost, quality, inventory levels, and supply chain operations meet organizational needs
Drives cost reduction/improvement/avoidance/control throughout PE projects to facilitate the company’s competitive position, while ensuring that all purchasing activities comply with applicable regulations and guidelines
Initiates and leads design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews in partnership with Quality and Product Engineering
Responsible for supplier risk assessment and mitigation through start of project to transition to production
Coordinates successful completion of supplier evaluation, selection, and approval process, while assuring that suppliers adhere to process, scope and timing of projects
Manages product launch ramp-up and transfer to production aligned with commodity strategies and project timelines through collection of data, analyzing forecasted demand, and predicting inventory needs. Maintains contact with vendors and submits purchase orders or requisitions in order to ensure a continuous supply of goods as products commercialize
Maintains project purchased standard cost data and measurable relating to the same
Leads engagement and communication with Commodity Sourcing Leads, Operation Buyers, Design Engineers, and Supplier Quality Engineer throughout the project for seamless transfer of PE project sourcing information
Holds and continuously seeks out a high level of product, process, and commodity market knowledge
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in supply chain, business or engineering or related field
3-5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong problem-solving skills
Performs work with a high degree of latitude
Possesses expert knowledge of subject matter
Strong project management skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents, technical procedures, drawings, and specifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
ERP experience, preferably with Oracle
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with internal customers, external suppliers, and fellow teammates at all levels
Must possess solid verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates success working on cross-functional teams to prioritize and manage goals and initiatives amidst competing priorities
