Responsibilities
Safeguarding communities at risk from flooding in North and Mid Wales
Supplying authoritative, evidence-based advice on flood risk matters for planning applications and infrastructure consents
Ensure that development proposals align with Welsh Government Technical Advisory Note 15 (2025) policy on flood risk
Review permit applications
Support enforcement actions
Consider emergency works under the Environmental Permitting Regulations (Wales) (Flood Risk) 2016
Apply technical knowledge whilst influencing external stakeholders
Using regulatory tools to protect people, property and the environment
Qualification
Required
Knowledgeable and committed team member
Ability to supply authoritative, evidence-based advice on flood risk matters for planning applications and infrastructure consents
Understanding of Welsh Government Technical Advisory Note 15 (2025) policy on flood risk
Experience in reviewing permit applications
Support for enforcement actions
Consideration of emergency works under the Environmental Permitting Regulations (Wales) (Flood Risk) 2016
Technical knowledge in flood risk management
Ability to influence external stakeholders
Use of regulatory tools to protect people, property, and the environment
Commitment to climate adaptation
Contribution to delivering the aims and objectives of Natural Resources Wales Corporate Plan by 2030
Willingness to lead on critical flood risk challenges
