Senior Systems Engineer, Collision Avoidance

Responsibilities
Define requirements and metrics for validating collision avoidance systems to enable safe AV operations
Own analysis and characterization of collision avoidance systems, influencing software development, and launch decisions
Prototype and develop simulation-based and closed-course testing strategies that support continuous and scaled software release cycles
Design and maintain tests for comprehensively assessing AV performance in conflict scenarios across the entire operating design domain
Combine experience in systems engineering and data analysis to facilitate data driven design, validation, risk analysis, and prioritization decisions
Own roadmaps for developing long-term and stable requirements, verification/validation, and/or software solutions to advanced problems over multiple product lifecycles
Mentor team members and facilitate cross-team collaboration to define collision avoidance validation strategies for new launches
Qualification
Required
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or related fields
4+ years of experience in systems engineering, vehicle dynamics, automotive engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, or other related fields
Solid understanding of vehicle dynamics and control fundamentals
Experienced with SQL, Python, and C++ for analyzing large data sets and building production-quality simulation testing products
Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to interpret data and derive impactful conclusions
Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity, going from quick code prototypes to long-term plans on brief time horizons
Excellent communication skills, capable of switching between high-level and detailed discussions
Preferred
Software engineering experience on a safety-critical product, especially as it relates to verification and validation tools
Experience with autonomous vehicles, vehicle development, or ADAS development
Experience working with robotics simulation environments
Experience analyzing automotive collision data
Experience developing dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Looker or Jupyter notebooks
