Supervisory Probation Administrator

Responsibilities

Overseeing and managing the TSD, including directing staff, reviewing work, administering performance plans, and evaluating performance
Operating the FPPA in partnership with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center
Maintaining the FPPA's federal law enforcement training accreditation
Developing and implementing mid- and long-range training and safety program plans
Ensuring training program requirements are met and in alignment with the Judicial Conference policy
Interpreting, developing, and applying training and safety policies and; ensuring the policies are current and consistent with caselaw, legislation, research, and other judicial policies and procedures
Providing training programs for new and experienced officers, and leading a research based national safety clearinghouse
Providing instructor certification and recertification
Providing policy guidance on firearms, safety, search and seizure, use of force, and hazardous incidents
Conducting on-site inspections to ensure adherence to national policy and procedures
Collecting and analyzing data on searches, seizures, and safety-related incidents, rendering interpretation, and preparing and presenting subsequent reporting
Evaluating training, program, and policy effectiveness and making appropriate changes
Providing advice to senior executives on the latest evidence-based approaches to providing training to adult learners and assuring officer safety while supervising in the community
Developing annual budget request, overseeing expenditures, and containing costs
Providing data, reports and other information to senior leadership
Overseeing Probation and Pretrial Services Office's efforts to promote staff safety and wellness
Leading and providing support to various working groups

Qualification

Policy DevelopmentData AnalysisLeadershipBehavioral Science DegreeResearch Skills

Required

Degree in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position
Combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
At least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position
Providing leadership and administrative oversight to staff
Developing national policies and procedures
Conducting research, analyzing data, and monitoring trends for improvement of national programs
