Responsibilities
Manages the design and construction of new or expanded facilities
Reviews codes, calculations, drawings, specifications, constructability and material selection/substitutions to support assigned work
Responsible for performing contractor management, troubleshooting design or construction conflicts
Provides technical solutions
Performs project specific safety assessments/audits, quality control and quality inspection to design standards
Preparations of startup and commissioning documents including checklists, operating procedure, and training for all assigned work
Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements
Provides on-site resolution of engineering problems encountered during construction
Investigates problems incurred during testing and operations, resolves problems and directs re-test to ensure the satisfactory performance of the system
Requires close coordination and management of multiple construction projects with multiple stakeholders, customers, maintenance and operations personnel
Prepares project cost estimates and works with third parties to develop studies prior to design
Plans, designs and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities
Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules
Obtains and supervises outside contractors
Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities
Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects
Provides engineering consulting services to local and divisional offices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
5 years of relevant exempt experience; or
Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; or
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
Three years of experience in an industrial environment
Ability to manage the design and construction of electrical, mechanical and structural work/systems associated with utility infrastructure, building and other industrial construction projects
Ability to prepare architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules
Ability to obtain and supervise outside contractors
Ability to recommend architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities
Ability to supervise the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects
Ability to conduct construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements
Ability to provide engineering consulting services to local and divisional offices
Preferred
Relevant Bachelor degrees in Construction Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or relevant Construction degree
