Industrial/Product Designer
Robot.com is developing the next generation of autonomous delivery robots, designing integrated hardware and software systems that operate at scale across the U.S., Latin America, and Asia. The Industrial/Product Designer will support the full development cycle of robotic platforms, translating functional and technical requirements into user-centered, manufacturable product solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Conduct user research, observation, and field testing to inform product decisions
Develop physical and interactive design solutions aligned with Robot.com’s visual and functional design guidelines
Create prototypes and support CMF (Color, Material & Finish) exploration and iterative refinement
Provide mechanical design support and participate in conceptual and functional prototyping
Contribute manufacturing and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) input to guide feasibility and production planning
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Hardware & Manufacturing, Robotics & AI, Product, and Leadership
Support internal and external design reviews and validation sessions
Document design rationale and communicate clearly across teams and stakeholders
Contribute design support for new deployment formats and emerging business lines
Work in testing environments across labs, field sites, and live operational deployments
Respond quickly to learnings and iterate solutions in short cycles
Travel occasionally for testing, supplier visits, and deployment support (as needed)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Product Engineering, or related field
Experience designing physical products, ideally with exposure to hardware, robotics, or consumer electronics
Understanding of manufacturing processes, CMF development, and DFM principles
Experience participating in prototyping, iterative design cycles, and usability testing
Strong aesthetic sensibility and design intuition
Ability to communicate concepts clearly through sketches, 3D models, and prototypes
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
Familiarity with Fusion 360 or SolidWorks
Familiarity with Blender (or equivalent 3D visualization tools)
Familiarity with digital sketching tools (e.g., Procreate)
Intermediate to advanced English communication skills
Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable with ambiguity
Hands-on maker mindset with strong attention to detail
Collaborative and effective communicator
Ability to balance creativity with technical feasibility
