Responsibilities
Set up operation of the heart-lung machine according to protocols prescribed by the Attending Surgeon
Perform extracorporeal circulation/cardiopulmonary support
Inject medication via heart-lung machine as prescribed and by order of the Anesthesiologist or Surgeon
Perform ancillary duties, such as cell saving, ECMO, VAD, plasma saving and IABP, etc
Maintain records related to the above procedures
Adhere to Infection Controls Procedures
Stock, clean, and maintain equipment and supplies as needed
Participate in research and teaching students from affiliated perfusion schools
Attend continuing education conferences
Is competent to care for patients based upon the age groups treated
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a recognized college or university or bachelor's degree and enrolled in an accredited school of cardiovascular perfusion and completed the case requirements to sit for the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion Board Examination
Must obtain NYS Perfusion license within one year of date of hire as Perfusionist Intern
Preferred
Prior clinical perfusion experience
