Manager, Mortgage Operations

Ardent Credit Union is seeking a Manager for Mortgage Operations, responsible for overseeing the home equity and first mortgage loan processing and compliance with regulations. The role involves managing staff, training employees, and coordinating loan system changes while ensuring timely processing and excellent service to both members and internal teams.

Responsibilities

Manages the real estate lending staff in the handling of the loan processing, closing and post-closing functions
Trains both new and existing employees on the home equity and mortgage loan process, procedure, policy, new products and services. Clearly explains standards and expectations
Assists with coordination of loan system changes and updates with the data processing departments and outside vendors. Preparing and revising documents, testing new products and processes, identifying system problems and recommending corrective actions
Maintains a working knowledge of home equity and first mortgage products and requirements
Supports staff by offering direction on navigating escalated situations and complex loan scenarios
Acts as a liaison between Lending, branches and other departments regarding loan applications, questions and resolution of problems
Maintains a positive working relationship with all third party vendors, including Ardent’s loan servicer, QC vendors, system contacts and more
Recognize and report suspicious activity to Asset Recovery Dept. &/or manager
Provides excellent service to other credit union employees in support of their activities and within agreed service level agreements
Maintains proper quality control of all loan files by verifying proper documentation is received and files are properly documented
Supports processors to pre-qualify member for loan amount according to investor guidelines with acceptable ratios, credit, employment history, and source of funds to close the loan
Coordinates timely preparation of month-end reports
Meets mutually agreed upon performance standards
Answers telephone

Required

Effective written and verbal communication skills
Basic arithmetic skills
Working knowledge of credit union's in-house computer system
Working knowledge of mortgage software
Working knowledge of credit union loan program guidelines and policies and loan processing functions
Working knowledge of third-party processors and FNMA/FHLMC requirements/services
Demonstrated ability to provide courteous and professional service to members
Familiarity with mortgage loan documents
High School diploma or equivalent
Must have 2 -5 years supervisory experience

Preferred

Associates degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
3-5 years of experience in Mortgage Loan Processing AND/OR 3-5 years of experience in Mortgage Loan Closing
Customer service experience in the capacity of a financial institution
