Koala Health is focused on making pet health management simple and delightful. They are seeking a Lead Pharmacist to oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensure exceptional clinical care, and support the development of a high-performing pharmacy technician team.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day pharmacy technician workflows, staffing, and task delegation

Ensure technicians are properly trained, supported, and prepared for changing volume demands

Participate in recruiting and hiring; communicate staffing needs and pharmacist-to-tech ratio concerns to Leadership and People Operations

Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and quarterly development check-ins; recognize strong performance

Address performance gaps through coaching, documentation, and corrective action when necessary

Review and approve timekeeping, PTO requests, and adherence to labor policies

Monitor daily backlog and workflow metrics; adjust team assignments based on operational needs

Lead or participate in daily team huddles to communicate priorities and expectations

Provide expert consultations to customers on medication use, interactions, side effects, dosing, and storage

Communicate with veterinarians to obtain, clarify, or modify prescriptions and provide therapeutic guidance

Enter and review prescriptions with exceptional accuracy

Dispense, check, package, and ship medication orders

Participate in Koala’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program, identifying and preventing prescription errors

Serve as pharmacist on duty as required

Order, receive, and stock medications according to company policies and regulatory standards

Maintain proper storage, security, and handling of all medications

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations and practice standards

Support maintenance of accurate prescription and recordkeeping systems

Perform additional duties to support safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy operations

Foster a positive, inclusive, and values-driven culture within the pharmacy

Address morale concerns proactively and support a collaborative team environment

Promote open communication and an accessible leadership style
