Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and teach assigned courses in Entertainment Design (e.g., concept art, character and environment design, visual development, storyboarding)
Create effective course materials, including syllabi, course schedules, assignments, lectures, demonstrations, and assessments
Maintain all instructional content and resources on the Canvas Learning Management System
Instruct, supervise, and motivate students in classroom and studio settings
Foster an inclusive, student-centered learning environment that supports artistic growth and professional skill development
Provide timely, constructive feedback on student projects and creative work
Maintain accurate attendance records and submit required reports
Grade assignments and projects and submit final grades promptly at the end of each block or semester
Coordinate with the program coordinator, department chair, and academic advisors as needed to support student success and ensure course alignment with program goals

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Art & Design, Entertainment Design, Animation, Game Art, Illustration, or a closely related field; OR a combination of relevant professional industry experience and education that demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to teach Entertainment Design coursework
Knowledge of entertainment design principles, including concept art, character and environment design, visual development, and/or storyboarding
Knowledge of current industry tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate, Blender, Maya, ZBrush, or similar)
Understanding of artistic fundamentals such as drawing, composition, color theory, lighting, and visual storytelling
Knowledge of industry workflows, production pipelines, and professional standards in animation, games, film, or related fields
Knowledge of effective teaching practices, curriculum development, and assessment methods
Strong artistic and technical skills relevant to entertainment design disciplines
Skill in creating clear instructional materials, demonstrations, and project-based learning experiences
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Skill in providing constructive, actionable critique that supports student development
Proficiency with the Canvas LMS or ability to quickly learn new instructional technologies
Organizational skills for managing classes, grading, and deadlines
Ability to teach and mentor students with varying skill levels and creative backgrounds
Ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and motivating classroom environment
Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and educational needs
Ability to maintain professionalism, meet deadlines, and manage course logistics independently
Ability to collaborate effectively with the program coordinator, department chair, and other faculty or advisors

Preferred

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's or doctorate degree in Entertainment Design, Animation, Game Art, Illustration, Concept Art, or a closely related discipline
One year of teaching experience at the college level or significant professional experience in entertainment design fields such as animation, gaming, film, concept art, or visual development
