Nurse Supervisor (RN) – Inpatient Behavioral Health

Responsibilities

Participate in morning meetings and treatment team discussions; relay critical updates to nursing staff
Identify, monitor, and support high-risk clients to ensure safety and continuity of care
Coordinate timely and safe discharges, including prescriptions, medications, and follow-up instructions
Maintain an accurate bed board and communicate admissions, discharges, and census changes
Monitor detox protocols, including clinical appropriateness and length of stay
Provide on-call support and assist with shift coverage, scheduling, and workflow prioritization
Support the Nurse Manager with interviewing, onboarding, coaching, and disciplinary processes
Foster a positive, accountable, and professional nursing culture
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff
Conduct chart audits and support corrective action plans
Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) for accuracy and completeness
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and accreditation standards
Assist with client grievances, incident reports, and service recovery efforts
Ensure proper consent procedures are completed for all clients
Collaborate with medical providers, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary teams
Oversee sample medication distribution and cost-effective medication management
Assist with prior authorizations and insurance-related clinical documentation
Ensure labs are processed, reviewed, and signed off appropriately
Verify HCG test results prior to medication initiation per protocol
Provide direct nursing care as needed, including assessments, vitals, medication administration, and detox oversight
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Active, unrestricted RN license in North Carolina
CPR/BLS, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Strong understanding of substance use and co-occurring disorders
Knowledge of HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and regulatory compliance

Preferred

Prior supervisory or nurse leadership experience
Experience in behavioral health, substance use, or inpatient treatment settings
Familiarity with regulatory bodies and quality improvement processes
Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
