Apprentice Telecom Lineman, Fairfield ME

Centerline is currently hiring Apprentice Telecom Linemen who have an interest in growing with the company. This role involves working with underground utility construction tools and performing general construction labor, while ensuring safety on job sites.

Responsibilities

Familiar with, and understand the use of underground utility construction tools; use of jackhammers/chipping guns, compactors, shovels, and other hand tools
If qualified, drive to and from job sites throughout New England as well as perform general construction labor at the job site including loading, digging, and placing underground cabling that would vary in size, shape, and weight
Conscientious regarding the safety of him/herself at times as well as the safety of every other crew member or individual on the job site
Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
Regular contact with co-workers and customers; work as part of a team environment
Travel throughout the region with the Underground Crew, learning on the job
Show up for work daily and on time and ability to follow directions
Handle physical demands of construction duties
Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver's license and pass random driver's license screenings
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance
Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
Active Class A CDL desired but not required
Hydraulics IC/2B Hoisting license a plus, but not required
Hours: 6:30a-3:00p are the normal working hours, but due to customer and/or job demands the position may start earlier and end later job dependent

Required

Have you attended lineman school?

Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 40 lbs continuously
Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require basic safety precautions

Preferred

Previous underground utility or communications construction experience a plus
Active Class A CDL desired but not required
Hydraulics IC/2B Hoisting license a plus, but not required
