Junior Mechanical Engineer

The Junior Mechanical Engineer will support Facility Condition Assessments and ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audits for federal government facilities, involving field assessments, evaluations of mechanical systems, and technical report preparation.

Responsibilities
Conduct Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs) including field inspections, system evaluations, and documentation of deficiencies and recommendations
Perform ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits and identify energy conservation measures (ECMs)
Evaluate HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems for condition, code compliance, and operational efficiency
Prepare detailed technical reports, cost estimates, and recommendations for repair or replacement
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects and other engineering disciplines
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., UFC, ASHRAE, IPC, NEC, NFPA)
Support project planning, scheduling, and resource coordination
Communicate technical findings and updates to government stakeholders
Contribute to proposal development and technical writing for new opportunities
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship (required)
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field
EIT or FE certification is required
2–3 years of experience in MEP engineering or related field
Familiarity with federal design standards and codes
Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, energy modeling software)
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Willingness to travel up to 35%
Must be physically capable of conducting field inspections, including walking long distances, climbing ladders, entering mechanical or confined spaces, and lifting equipment or materials as needed
Preferred
PE license preferred for senior candidates
Experience with facility assessments or building design preferred
Experience with federal facility assessments, energy audits, or MEP design
