Senior Director, Local Business Leadership
WSP is a leading engineering and professional services firm seeking a DC Local Business Leader for their Transportation Business Line in Washington, DC. The role involves driving operational performance, leading a team, and ensuring client satisfaction while promoting internal collaboration and growth within the local office.

Responsibilities
Responsible for financial and operational performance including supporting the District business P&L, revenue generation, project margin, DSO, project delivery, client satisfaction, staff utilization, safety and other financial metrics. Develops and executes local growth and business development strategy
Drives rigor in business practices and supports organizational initiatives to drive performance
Focuses on and inspires excellence in projects and project delivery
Instills a 'Founder’s Mentality' that drives a culture of accountability and entrepreneurship
Attracts the best industry talent by fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment
Drives programs focused on employee experience, development, and engagement and as such regularly holds meetings to update the local offices on wins, losses, pipeline and prospects while providing encouragement to those in the offices that are making real achievements in profession, career, and general development
Embraces and cultivates WSP culture, exhibits alignment with US and Global strategies, and enables teams to thrive
Sets clients at the center for all we do, helping them be 'Future Ready' and challenge the status quo as appropriate to help clients succeed
Brings an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of domestic and global offerings
Deploys our unique expertise and perspective to create new value for clients and provides civic and industry leadership within the district
Manages client coordination and cross-selling efforts across all business lines in the Local Area
Provides civic and industry leadership
Leverages our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings
Ensures the solutions we deliver reflect our expertise and enhance the WSP brand
Advances the strategic direction of the Local Area and positions the Local Area for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan
Encourages, supports, and promotes the technical and professional development of local WSP staff
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or in a relevant field. Advanced degree is a plus
15+ years of relevant post education experience focusing on a combination of any of the following: Business and Operations Management, Business Development, Project Management, Program Management
Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to build long-term, meaningful relationships with clients
Ability to translate complicated technical information into sales messages
Ability to think strategically and creatively, and craft approaches to challenging problems
Collaboration and a partnering approach
Excellent leadership and development skills
Ability to influence and gain buy-in
Demonstrated change management skills and expertise
Experience with clients including state DOTs, transit, municipal, county, private, and business partners in Location
Demonstrated experience of leadership, delivery, and growth of a P&L
Ability to innovate and re-think the conventional approach to client and employee engagement
Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes. Experience in managing group-level operations
Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice
Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area
Commitment to internal and external client service
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
