Assistant United States Attorney (Criminal Rockford)

Responsibilities
The Northern District of Illinois is accepting applications for AUSA openings in our Criminal Division in Rockford, Illinois
The applicants selected will represent the U.S. Government as an AUSA in a wide range of unique and complex criminal cases
The applicant selected will represent the U.S. Government as an AUSA in a wide range of unique and complex cases and trials
The applicant must be committed to working on the full range of federal criminal cases that the Office handles
That includes the investigation and prosecution of violent crimes; firearms offenses; drug crimes; human trafficking; criminal immigration matters; public corruption; money laundering violations; national security cases; general crimes; and all varieties of white-collar crime and frauds, including federal program frauds and frauds in areas such as healthcare, trade and customs, mortgage, tax, Paycheck Protection Program ("PPP"), among others
Depending on mission needs in Rockford, criminal AUSAs may be asked to assist with civil matters
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress
Qualification
Required
Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree
Active member in good standing of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)
At least 1-year post-J.D. (or equivalent) legal or other relevant experience
Minimum of 2-years of post J.D. (or equivalent) legal or other relevant experience
You must be a United States Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing
Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
Must reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof
Preferred
