Assistant City Attorney
The City of Richmond is seeking an Assistant City Attorney to handle civil cases in federal and state trial and appellate courts. The role involves protecting the legal interests of the city and providing legal services and representation to city officials, employees, and departments.

Responsibilities
Responsible for protecting the legal interests of the City of Richmond and providing legal services and representation and advice to City officials, employees, and departments
Responsible for reviewing legal matters, providing appropriate counsel, and initiating or responding to legal actions. Working within a general outline of work to be performed and developing work methods and sequences under general supervision
The position will undertake other assignments as needed
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor degree
Admission to the Virginia Bar
Licensed to practice law in Virginia
Independent admission to the bars of individual courts as necessary (e.g., United States District Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, etc.)
Twelve hours of continuing legal education annually
Compliance with additional requirements that may be established by the City of Richmond
Demonstrated ability to apply legal analysis in the solution of technical, administrative, and legal problems
Strong written and verbal skills
