Junior Project Manager

The Jr. Project Manager is responsible for overseeing projects and assisting other project managers with planning, coordinating project tasks, tracking progress, and updating stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Act as the university's on-site representative, supervising contractors, trades, and vendors to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
Oversee and lead all on-site crew to review tasks, risks, and campus-specific protocols (e.g., pedestrian traffic, noise, windows near classrooms)
Perform routine walk-throughs, document deficiencies, and coordinate corrective actions with contractors before formal inspections. Lead pre-punch and punch list walks, ensuring timely completion before occupancy, and verify that marked-up drawings and operation and maintenance manuals are received, complete, and accurate
Provide field insight and rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) estimates; when scope changes arise, help negotiate fair pricing or future planning
Ensure contractor safety plans align with Florida Tech's Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and that university standards are followed
Organize and maintain project records, schedules, and correspondence in digital project management systems. Track milestones, critical paths, and deliverables to ensure timely completion
Attend meetings regarding projects' status, schedule, etc., to communicate with appropriate stakeholders
Relay project challenges and impacts to the schedule, etc
Emergency preparedness and support as directed

Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
Must have a valid Florida driver's license and maintain a good driving record as determined by Florida Tech guidelines
Minimum 5–8 years of experience required in area of expertise
Must be able to understand and interpret blueprints/ specifications
Preferred
30-hour OSHA General Industry certification
Institutional construction experience
Computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, Project Management, Procure)
