Human Resources Generalist (Employee Engagement & Experience)

NEOGOV is seeking a Human Resources Generalist focused on employee engagement and experience. The role involves designing and managing employee engagement initiatives, overseeing training and development programs, and ensuring effective internal communications within the Human Resources Department.

Responsibilities

Leads all employee engagement initiatives, including fun and morale-focused activities, annual events, themed programs, lunch & learns, and other engagement opportunities
Serves as the primary steward of organizational culture and employee experience
Works closely with the Director of Human Resources and administration to plan, execute, and reinforce core values throughout the year
Oversees the Employee Engagement Task Force and develops long-term engagement goals and strategies
Coordinates community service opportunities for employees
Manages internal communication platforms and tools (e.g., the Wire, Viva Engage, internal newsletter)
Develops and maintains the Human Resources brand and voice
Leads communication strategies for organizational announcements, big news, and change initiatives
Facilitates and manages monthly All Team Meetings
Oversees the full annual training schedule for the organization, including live trainings, mandatory compliance trainings, and other development programs
Manages the Learning Management System (LMS) that houses compliance training and additional modules
Partners with departments to create customized training plans for new hires
Coordinates city-wide training sessions and educational opportunities
Handles administrative coordination for HR, including filing, managing general HR paperwork, and maintaining confidential employee files
Maintains the Director’s calendar and supports scheduling for HR-related meetings
Oversees the HR supply closet, ensuring availability of general supplies, snacks, and food for orientation days
Coordinates travel, conference registrations, lodging, and planning for HR team events
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA requirements
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or a related field
1–3 years of experience in human resources, employee engagement, communications, training and development, event coordination, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Comprehensive knowledge of employee engagement best practices
Strong understanding of organizational culture-building and values-based leadership principles
Comprehensive knowledge of personnel practices, procedures, and applicable employment laws
Knowledge of state regulations regarding the release and confidentiality of employee files
Ability to research, analyze, and interpret information
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal departments
Basic understanding of local government structure and current organizational projects
Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to independently manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
Ability to work effectively amidst frequent interruptions and manage several tasks simultaneously
Valid driver's license in the State of Indiana
