Responsibilities
Performs residential and light commercial building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing inspections to ensure that new construction, alterations, and repairs comply with building codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specifications
Monitors the status of construction inspection activities and keeps track of permits issued
Notifies the construction contractor, superintendent, or supervisor when violations of building codes or ordinances are identified
Investigates new construction or alterations being done without proper permits and issue "stop work orders"
Performs all other work as assigned
Must be able to provide services for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of League City’s citizens, and must be able to work immediately before, during, or immediately after an emergency
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Valid Class 'C' Texas driver's license
Must possess 3 current ICC Certifications: Residential Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical
Must possess current State of Texas Plumbing Inspector License
Must possess all 3 current Residential ICC Certifications
Must possess at least 3 Commercial ICC Certifications in Building, Mechanical and Electrical
Preferred
One year experience as a building inspector
Three years experience as a building inspector
Five years experience as a building inspector
