Analytics Manager, Pension Investments (Hybrid)

Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Visualization
Database Development & Automation: Support the buildout and maintenance of the Pension Investments Database, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and scalability. Use Snowflake, Tableau, Matillion and Python to design and automate ETL pipelines that consolidate data from custodians, consultants, and investment managers. Technical Detail: Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and Snowflake data models to aggregate holdings, performance, and benchmark data. Use Python (pandas, NumPy) to automate ingestion and transformation, and manage workflows through Snowflake
Visualization & Reporting: Design and maintain interactive dashboards in Tableau that provide transparency into asset allocation, performance, liquidity, and risk exposures across pension portfolios. Automate recurring reports and integrate live data feeds to reduce manual effort and improve timeliness. Technical Detail: Build Tableau dashboards connected to Snowflake or Excel extracts using live queries. Create calculated fields, parameters, and filters for interactivity, and manage publication and refresh schedules via Tableau
Analytical Insights & Decision Support: Perform data analysis to identify trends and support portfolio management, asset allocation, and performance evaluation. Deliver actionable insights to inform investment strategy, risk management, and monitoring of funded status. Technical Detail: Apply statistical and regression analysis in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels). Use time-series techniques to evaluate performance and risk metrics, integrate data feeds from data providers, and apply portfolio simulation methods such as mean-variance optimization or Monte Carlo analysis
Data Governance & Quality Control: Maintain strong data governance by establishing validation checks, documentation standards, and reconciliation processes. Coordinate with IT, accounting, and actuarial teams to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems. Technical Detail: Implement automated data validation routines in SQL or Python to flag discrepancies. Use control tables and audit logs within Snowflake, maintain version control and document data processes in shared repositories or data catalogs
Innovation & Process Improvement: Evaluate and implement new tools and techniques to enhance data analytics, visualization, and automation capabilities. Contribute to ongoing efforts to modernize investment operations and improve efficiency. Technical Detail: Prototype solutions using tools such as Tableau or Python. Integrate APIs from external providers into existing data infrastructure, and document enhancements to support scalability and reusability
AI and Advanced Analytics Integration: Support the future implementation of artificial intelligence and machine-learning tools to enhance data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency. Identify use cases such as predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and natural-language querying of investment data, contracts, and investment memos. Technical Detail: Collaborate with internal data science and IT teams to evaluate AI platforms
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
Strong curiosity for investment management; experience a plus
Strong technical skills with experience using Snowflake (or other database management systems), Tableau (or other visualization tools), and Python (or other programming languages)
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
