Responsibilities
Serve as SME on Juniper products and technologies
Understand the customer’s organizational structure, become familiar with customer's network implementation and support procedures and help drive the highest level of network availability
Carry out testing of new designs, features, and functionality in a laboratory environment and help develop implementation plans to ensure proper operation in live production networks
Validate patches and fixes to operating system software and ensure they are implemented and functioning correctly in pre-production, test, and live networks
Troubleshoot equipment and network problems and initiate and track JTAC cases through to problem resolution
Produce written summary reports of design projects, equipment, and network problems on a regular basis to the customer
Hold network information gathering workshops with the customer to understand their existing network design and technical requirements for new network deployments
Train the customer’s design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate their Juniper Networks products
Peer with other employees performing similar resident engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network
Develop secondary skills in other products in the customer network
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years experience providing implementation and technical support of networking products in large Enterprise, Data Center, or Internet Service Provider environments
Strong Interpersonal skills
Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of routers, switches, and firewalls. This includes hands-on experience operating management tools and network analyzers
Detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP networks (TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6, STP, 802.1Q, 802.1X, IGMP, GRE, IPSec, SNMP, DNS, POS, PPP, VRRP, L2TP, etc.)
Experience in network routing protocol troubleshooting (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS)
Experience in enterprise or cloud scale data center design engineering
The ability to function in a team environment and recognize and take on tasks with self-direction
The ability to communicate well within the Juniper team and articulate customer problems before they become major issues
Hands-on configuration and operational knowledge of Juniper products
Clearance Required: DOD Security clearance
Daily Onsite work required
Preferred
8+ years experience in a large service provider or enterprise-level network
Unix/Linux experience
Automation and scripting experience a plus
JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, and CCIE certifications a strong plus
