Senior Scientist, Assay Development

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is focused on healthcare innovation to improve patient outcomes. They are seeking a Senior Scientist in Assay Development to design and implement assays for antibody generation, working collaboratively across discovery areas to advance therapeutic programs.

Responsibilities

Design and optimize biochemical/cell-based binding and functional assays with appropriate reagents for antibody screening
Execute antibody discovery workflow on Beacon microfluidics platform to screen for functional antibody hits
Evaluate animal serology using appropriate assays to select animals for screening
Present research findings in internal meetings, clearly communicating scientific results and providing insights into data interpretation
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across functional areas to advance therapeutic programs in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Document work accurately and promptly using Electronic Lab Notebook systems (e.g., Signal) and create detailed SOPs

Required

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required
PhD in Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry or a related field is highly preferred
Minimum 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or academic setting
Hands-on experience in assay development with expertise on protein-based binding assays and cell-based binding and functional assays
In-depth knowledge on mAb, bi-specifics and multi-specifics as therapeutics
Working knowledge on microfluidics-based antibody discovery platform (ideally Beacon)

Preferred

Assay development experience on microfluidics-based antibody discovery platform
Flow cytometry expertise for single B cell sorting
Experience or knowledge on generation of right reagents/cell lines for assay development on Beacon platform
