Financial Reports Accountant II

Texas Department of Transportation is located in Austin, Texas, and is seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant II to join their Financial Management Division. This role involves preparing annual financial reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles while interacting with auditors and governmental agencies.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Prepares the Department’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report in collaboration with the accounting team
Assists in preparing three additional stand-alone audited reports for the Texas Mobility Fund, Grand Parkway Transportation Corporation, and Central Texas Turnpike System
Prepares journal entries and vouchers for posting to the PeopleSoft Accounting System and the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS)
Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable federal and state laws and regulations
Coordinates data collection for the annual financial audit
Represents the Department in meetings with auditors and other governmental officials and participates in financial system development and testing activities
Develops and produces complex reports for monitoring and reporting agency financial information
Provides accounting-related information to TxDOT districts, divisions, other state agencies, internal and external auditors, the Legislature, and the Governor
Researches accounting discrepancies and reconciles accounts
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or finance-related discipline
2 years accounting related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent)
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Finance-related is highly preferred
