Responsibilities

Serve as administrator and oversee daily operations of the NCCER accredited HVAC technician training program and Air Comfort, Inc. training academy including scheduling, instructor management, and student program monitoring
Ensure compliance with institutional policies, regulations, and NCCER accreditation standards
Develop and manage the program’s annual budget and resource needs
Coordinate with Human Resources to support student candidate recruitment, retention, and job placement
Design, implement, and continuously update the NCCER HVAC curriculum to align with current HVAC industry standards, emerging technologies, and Air Comfort’s service department staffing requirements
Evaluate instructional materials, tools, and lab equipment for relevance and effectiveness
Ensure all safety, OSHA and EPA standards are met within the training labs
Maintain strong relationships with management and industry partners to ensure curriculum reflects workforce needs and trends
Hire, train, and evaluate HVAC instructors, proctors, and support staff
Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to insure instructional excellence
While initiating and implementing the NCCER HVAC training curriculum, Program Director will work with Service Department Management to create on-line, classroom, and on the job training schedules
Assist students with access to on-line training curriculum, knowledge-based tests for section study, how to videos, level study, module completion, full program, and training scores
Assists with Interviewing and hiring new program intern and apprenticeship candidates
Advises, trains, and seeks out training opportunities for less skilled installation technicians in new methods or procedures
Initiates “best practice” measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of work
Oversees appropriate employee safety training is completed, certifications are maintained, and compliance is enforced
Other duties, responsibilities, tasking, and special projects as assigned by management or ownership

Required

Minimum of 5 years of combined HVAC field/field management experience
Associates or Bachelor's degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, related technical field or equivalent field experience
EPA certification
Working knowledgeable of residential and light commercial HVAC operation, installation, repair, and maintenance
Working knowledge of HVAC tools, materials, PPE, and safe work practices
Working knowledge of OSHA safety programs on lock out/tag out, fall protection, confined space, personal protective equipment, asbestos, hazardous chemicals, and other OSHA programs
Working knowledgeable of HVAC national, state, local code requirements, accepted industry standards and practices
Able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, submittals, installation instructions, owner's and maintenance manuals
Proficiency with educational software applications, for office, planning, scheduling, service reporting, load calculation, duct system layout, system design, system applications, and equipment start-up, and commissioning
Desire and passion to train and supervise younger interns and apprentice technicians
Demonstrated commitment to workforce education and student success
Provide supervisory principles, scheduling practices, methods, organizational, planning, reading and writing skills
Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills including tact and diplomacy
Demonstrate the ability to supervise, coordinate, and delegate scheduling of subordinate personnel, installation, and service technicians
Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
Possess a willing and flexible disposition because of the demands of shared work tasks with service, construction, controls, project management, estimating, and administration departments
Ability to maintain a positive, willing, and trainable attitude
Ability to get along with and work well with people on all levels and departments within and outside the organization
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to lead, manage, and help train all levels of service technicians
Must be a team player

Good driving record (required)
EPA Type II or Universal (required)
At least 5 Years of commercial/industrial/residential HVAC retrofit installation or management experience. (required)

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent field experience
