CLX Engineering designs and delivers automation systems for airports, and they are seeking a Senior Controls & Automation Engineer. This role involves leading automation efforts from design through commissioning, serving as both a technical expert and on-site leader in high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

Own on-site technical execution; provide daily updates and remove roadblocks

Serve as the primary technical and project contact for clients and internal teams

Support proposals, estimates, and early technical planning

Write, modify, and troubleshoot PLC code (RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, CCW)

Integrate industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet) and interface with VFDs, HMIs, SCADA, and third-party systems

Utilize Ignition for system integration and visualization

Design, program, test, and commission baggage handling and boarding bridge systems

Develop clean, intuitive HMI screens that operators actually want to use

Update AutoCAD drawings and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards

Lead and supervise installation activities; troubleshoot and validate system performance

Execute in-house testing, site acceptance testing, and full commissioning

Prepare test plans, work plans, and detailed DOOs

Coordinate with logistics to ensure materials arrive when and where needed

Supervise CLX personnel and vendor crews on site

Collaborate with other engineers on shared programming and system design tasks
