As a Classroom Aide, you will work directly with students with developmental disabilities, helping them achieve their highest potential through supervision and support in various activities throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

Supervise and support an assigned student in the education program

Supervise one student across the entire school day in all instructional and leisure activities while the student is present in the school building

Provide assistance for their assigned student in completing activities of daily living, including toileting, menstrual care (for females), and other self care activities if appropriate for that student

Facilitate student's participation in small group or individual learning activities

Provide prompting for completion of new skills and practice on maintained or generalized skills

Implement behavior support plans as appropriate for their assigned student

Required

Have a HS diploma/GED with one years of related experience

Have a valid NY Drivers License

Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor

Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs

Pre-employment physical required

Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending & standing required

Frequent planned, outside activities causing exposure to sunlight and heat

Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes

Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc

Good manual dexterity

Preferred

Bachelor degree or Associates degree with one (1) year of related experience preferred
