Responsibilities
Responsible for working safely in all job aspects and functions
Provide process engineering support for vacuum distillation and hydrotreating including answering technical questions, making recommendations, providing process troubleshooting and developing process procedures
Engineering fundamentals applied to develop unit health monitoring activities for effective Equipment/Process evaluation, including heaters, exchangers, pumps, reactors, scrubbers, etc
Review daily trends, operating data, shift logs looking for trends and correlations as is related to production rates operating efficiencies (pressures, flows, temperatures)
Work with operating staff to review current operating conditions, evaluate performance and participate in debottlenecking projects. Facilitate agreements on operating philosophies and control strategies on plant units
Evaluate Catalyst life based on metals loading, pressure drop, product quality and throughput
Troubleshooting process-related problems and leveraging root cause analysis techniques to determine appropriate repair scopes or to predict potential impact on production and scheduled cleanings
Provide Operations support and expertise with all process and equipment troubleshooting with resolution or opportunity definition developed within prescribed timelines
Tuning, optimizing process unit identify short and long term improvement opportunities (safety, reliability and economics). Communicate any technical findings to the Management team
Technical support as required for turnaround activities
Flexible to respond to plant and project support needs as priorities change with specific business needs
Provide support for the facility air permit by performing critical emission calculations
Provide support for the facility’s PSM program (as defined under OSHA 29 CFR.1910.119) including MOCs, PSSRs, and HazOps
Adhere to all corporate policies and standards including but not limited to environmental and regulatory, human resources, facility, equipment, operations and maintenance
Participate in safety and other meetings
Provides support for other Operations functions as directed by Indianapolis Operations Manager
Qualification
Required
Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering Required)
Advanced knowledge of Word and Outlook Required
Advanced knowledge of Excel required
Excellent communicator
Ability to effectively interact with people
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Projects the vision for safety excellence within operating facilities
Preferred
Experience in the petrochemical industry (previous jobs, interns or co-op assignments)
