Social Justice Legal Internship for Law School Students - Summer 2026
The New Jersey Institute for Social Justice is seeking dedicated law school students for a Summer 2026 internship focused on social justice advocacy. Interns will work across various pillars including economic justice, criminal justice reform, democracy and justice, and environmental justice, engaging in research, writing, and policy analysis under the guidance of Institute attorneys and staff.

Responsibilities
Work across the four pillars of economic justice, criminal justice reform, democracy and justice, and environmental justice
Conduct research, writing, and policy analysis
Assist with legislative and policy advocacy
Participate in Institute meetings, conferences, and community events (virtual and in-person)
Develop pilot legal and policy reform projects
Engage in public education and mobilization
Qualification
Required
Dedicated and highly qualified law school students
Ability to work across four pillars of work: economic justice, criminal justice reform, democracy and justice, and environmental justice
Strong research, writing, and policy analysis skills
Ability to assist with legislative and policy advocacy
Participation in Institute meetings, conferences, and community events (virtual and in-person)
Ability to work approximately 35 hours per week for about 10 weeks
Submission of a cover letter, resume, two professional writing samples, and three professional references
