Systems Administrator - SUNY Oneonta
SUNY Oneonta is seeking a Systems Administrator to join their IT Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and support of mission-critical applications and complex systems, while also collaborating with university offices to meet business needs.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, document, and modify complex applications and systems, including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and server-based solutions, ensuring alignment with technical, functional, and security standards
Collaborate with university offices to assess business needs, refine processes, and anticipate evolving information requirements
Install, configure, and maintain systems supporting core IT services (Office365, web services, application services, directory services such as Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure)
Ensure compliance with university information security standards, including participation in backup/disaster recovery and implementation/documentation of security controls
Develop and deliver user training and knowledge base materials, empowering users to leverage IT systems securely and effectively
Participate in special projects, after-hours or weekend support during critical operations, and contribute to process improvement initiatives
Engage actively in department and campus-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
Experience designing, developing, and supporting complex IT systems and applications (including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and/or server-based solutions)
Experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise services and directory services (such as Office365, Active Directory, Azure, Entra ID)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred
Previous experience in administering servers using Microsoft Windows and Oracle Enterprise Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment
Previous experience administering Microsoft 365 services in higher education
Familiarity with project management, ITIL, process improvement, or interdepartmental collaboration projects
