Head of People
Latent is seeking a Head of People, their first HR hire, to build and lead the People function as the company scales. This role involves designing HR infrastructure, managing compensation frameworks, and fostering a high-performance culture while partnering closely with company leadership.

Responsibilities
Build the People Function: Stand up foundational HR infrastructure across compensation, leveling, performance management, engagement, benefits, and compliance
Own HR Systems End-to-End: Select, implement, and manage tools and processes across onboarding, HRIS, payroll, and compensation systems
Compensation & Leveling: Develop clear frameworks that support rapid hiring, internal mobility, and equitable decision-making
Manager Enablement: Build training, playbooks, and rituals that help managers lead well through hypergrowth
Employee Experience: Design programs that foster belonging, alignment, and high performance in a hybrid environment
People Operations: Maintain a smooth, compliant, and employee-centric operational backbone as we scale across states and roles
Culture & Values: Partner with leadership to operationalize company values, reinforce cultural clarity, and unlock a high-trust environment
Strategic Partner: Serve as a thought partner to founders on organizational design, headcount planning, change management, and cross-functional communication
High-Judgment HR Support: Handle sensitive employee relations issues with discretion, care, and a strong ethical compass
Qualification
Required
You've owned or helped build the People function at a high-growth startup (ideally Series A–C)
You thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and see imperfect information as an opportunity to create clarity
You operate with urgency, precision, and a deep sense of ownership
You enjoy being both strategic and hands-on, building systems while rolling up your sleeves to execute
You design processes that scale but don't add unnecessary friction
You're energized by building compensation frameworks, leveling structures, and HR systems from scratch
You care deeply about people and culture, not as perks, but as drivers of real company performance
You have excellent judgment and a track record of navigating sensitive, nuanced situations
You bring strong communication skills and can influence at every level of the organization
