Mission Operations Engineer, Optical Inter-Satellite Link

Amazon is working on the Leo initiative to enhance global broadband access through a satellite constellation. As a Mission Operations Engineer on the Optical Inter-Satellite Link team, you will oversee operational success at a systems level, drive automation, and coordinate with engineering teams to optimize satellite performance.

Responsibilities

Design, conduct, and participate in operational rehearsals
Coordinate and participate in all launch, early operation, and other critical activities
Develop concepts for OISL network operation for missions and experiments
Develop and perform analysis on system data, and identify areas and mechanisms for further improvement
Drive automation efforts with scalability in mind, ensuring that satellite and constellation function operate at peak performance with little-to-no manual intervention
Develop and execute integration vehicle test plans
Work closely with software, hardware and systems engineers

Required

Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
Experience with Linux/Unix
Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred

3+ years of satellite communications ground systems and operations experience
Experience collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data to drive process and system improvements
Experience driving improvement programs in the operations, engineering and support fields
Knowledge of software development lifecycle, including design, development, test, build, deployment processes and timelines
3+ years of experience in the Aerospace industry
