Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

Creates product design requirements and specifications in a team setting
Designs new products to meet design specifications
Creates engineering documents including drawings, bills of material and engineering change notices
Assists in all engineering functions leading to product release such as prototype testing, manufacturing issues, final test specs, etc
Uses lab tools, environmental chambers, vibration systems and general equipment to analyze and debug systems
Creates prototype hardware (designs and builds hardware to test concepts and provides a temporary target)
Supports mechanical and electrical assemblies and performs in-depth analysis during design review to minimize the effect of the various environmental stresses applied on the units including temperature, vibration, drag, steam, and chemical exposure
Coordinates with outside test labs for required testing to meet design criteria
Coordinates with outside Agencies for required certifications, such as ATEX, CE, UL, SIL and CSA, to meet the design specifications
Works directly with sales and customers during the order review process to verify compliance to customer environmental design requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) from an accredited university or college
Minimum 5 years' experience in progressive engineering assignments

Preferred

Proven design capabilities
Knowledge of mechanical design involving strength of materials and stress analysis
Experience with 2D and 3D drafting and design
