Zhone Technologies is seeking an Intermediate System Designer to join their dynamic development team. The role involves system architecture, key hardware technology selection, and understanding software interactions with hardware for carrier-grade Optical Network Terminals and related equipment.

Responsibilities

Work together with hardware engineers, software engineers and quality assurance engineers to ensure products meet design specifications and performance requirements

Performance optimization by identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to improve speed, reliability and capacity of the network elements

Investigate customer HW and system related issues

Creating and maintaining technical documents for network design, configuration and troubleshooting procedures

Stay current on the latest technology and best practices

Required

Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent coupled with 5+ years' experience in Optical, RF, or Wi-Fi network equipment design for Broadband Technology

Experience with network design tools like Mathcad, GNPy for example

Experience with network hardware (transceivers, routers, switches, WiFi ONT, OLTs)

Excellent communication skills

Ability to debug complex issues
