Responsibilities

Utilize your radiation protection (RP) and management skills to do something that matters!
Provide leadership and oversite for RP programs at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS)
Interact with Primary and Secondary Real Estate Operations Permit (REOP) holders, Division Leaders, and a wide variety of other managers and employees in support of science and engineering programs such as Accelerator Operations, Weapons, and others
Provide oversite to other RP professionals including Lawrence Livermore and solutions to a wide range of radiological issues to ensure the safety and health of employees within these organizations, as well as the greater community
Demonstrated experience exerting influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of an RP organization, including experience in the development and performance oversight of policies, procedures, and the systems required for maintaining and enhancing RP program implementation and initiatives
Demonstrated experience acting as an advisor to subordinate staff members and/or leading cooperative efforts of project teams addressing facility processes and hazards, including experience interfacing with engineering and operations staff to ensure appropriate development of facility or site-specific hazard assessments, procedures, training for RP staff, and the preparation of technical reports based on the expert interpretation of analyzed data
Demonstrated experience acting as an advisor and interacting with customers and/or functional peer group managers to successfully design and/or ensure safety and security protocols, including the demonstrated ability to implement Integrated Safety Management or similar principles and responsibilities
Demonstrated experience identifying and successfully implementing RP policy or operational changes and/or updates to meet Department of Energy (DOE) criteria and/or other regulatory requirements where erroneous decisions or recommendations could result in critical delays, jeopardized future activities, or caused substantial expenditure of additional time, human resources, or funds
Demonstrated experience managing the activities of individual contributors and/or direct reports on an ongoing basis, including experience with hiring/onboarding, the provision of continuous performance management, individual and team development, rewards and recognition, mutually respectful and inclusive work environments, and the management of headcount, forecasting, and budgets

Required

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physical Science, or a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Preferred

Advanced degree in a related field and/or current professional certification as a Health Physicist from the American Board of Health Physicists (ABHP)
Knowledge of and experience with effective change management principles and processes, including the demonstrated ability to lead cultural and organizational change, decision making, and navigate change to successful outcomes
Knowledge of DOE and/or LANL missions, culture, organizational structure, management systems and requirements, including those pertaining to safety and security, personnel, budgeting, and procurement
Active DOE 'Q' or other Top Secret clearance
