Responsibilities

Support the Officer in Charge (OIC) with the execution for assigned audit scope areas. This includes completion of audit testing, discussions with management and documentation of work performed
Work with other audit teams as required
Execute, plan and report on the assigned audit scope areas. Obtain a thorough understanding of the business/unit/ process and associated risks, develops an appropriate risk-based audit approach, and manages to assigned schedule
Ensure audit results are assessed, confirming facts with stakeholders, determining the root cause of any exceptions and the associated impact. Advise OIC on draft issue and report language
Champion a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Ensure Scotiabank standards and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Code of Ethics are maintained in completion of all assignments
Stay informed on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry trends. Conveys risk-related information to Officer-in-Charge or Audit Principal and senior management
Maintain stakeholder relationships to successfully carry out audit activities
Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment
Meet Department training requirements
Support the unit’s continuous monitoring program to understand and identify changing conditions within business, risk and corporate functions, keep abreast of changing risk profiles, guide assessment of emerging risks, identify systemic issues and determine current and future audit requirements
Assist with engagement planning and scoping, perform audit execution, problem identification and evaluation, issue writing, reporting and communication, and develop and provide high-quality value-added recommendations
Act primarily as team participant on assignments of low to medium complexity for assigned projects, processes, and units. Work cross-functionally with other IA team members to support and drive a collaborative team environment
Deliver end-to- end process of the execution of the audit and ensure nature and extent of testing is appropriate to support the objective, scope and overall opinion. Complete workpapers timely, ensures internal control weaknesses are clearly documented with recommendations addressing the root cause and are communicated timely to management

Required

Requires an undergraduate degree
An IT Audit /Information Security professional designation (e.g., CISA, CISSP), and experience with COSO and COBIT Frameworks is a plus
2-3 years of relevant experience in auditing ITGC controls
Specifically, Information Security, BCP, DR, Application Controls, and Data Governance
Technology Risk Management experience in financial services industry is a significant advantage
Working knowledge of the operations and regulatory environments for each unit as applicable
Ability to work in high levels of ambiguity and in a rapidly changing environment
Proficient at applying Scotiabank methodology and using risk-based auditing standards and practices
Good analytical skills and proficiency in the use of data analytic or visualization tools
Ability to execute multiple projects at any given time
Developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
Good people management and coaching/development skills
Curiosity mindset

Preferred

Data Analytics and using data along with other tools for decision making are a plus
