Responsibilities

Serves as a subject matter expert and coordinate engineer effort related to the Energy Resource Management Program
Identifies new projects based on (Executive Order, etc.) requirements, and develops, coordinates, integrates, and implements new technology and criteria as a result
Develops plans and proposals for alternative, renewable sources of energy, to meet future requirements while still maintaining Executive Order and statute directives for constant reduction of energy usage
Develops plans and implements Energy Cost Avoidance (ECA) projects that reduce the annual cost of energy and water usage
Provides technical assistance and guidance to Facility Supervisory General Engineer, Site, Director, Facility Managers, and other site engineers as well as host facility maintenance support
Collaborates with DLA Distribution’s energy resource managers to develop a standardized energy reporting protocol to provide a mechanism to track, analyze and report energy consumption data and costs at all DLA Distribution host and tenant locations

Licenses/Certifications: Incumbent shall have a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certificate or shall be able to obtain one within one year of appointment to this position
Pre-Employment Physical: Required
Basic Requirement: A Bachelor's Degree or higher in professional engineering
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position
Developing, coordinating, and issuing procedures, strategies, goals and processes to implement Federal energy mandates
Evaluating projects and program against requirements and deadlines and adjusts as necessary
Coordinating and guiding investment strategy supporting energy program goals and objectives
Developing plans and implementing Energy Cost Avoidance (ECA) projects
Provides professional engineering services to DLA organizations on energy/water conservation matters
Physical Demands: While some of the work is sedentary, the work requires lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis
