Responsibilities

Establishing and maintaining configuration management frameworks
Providing senior-level systems administration across the duel-site enterprise infrastructure
Implementing configuration standards and maintaining day-to-day operations of systems that support leadership-required analytic workflows
Ensuring optimal performance and availability of SAF/SA’s analytical computing environments, including HPC clusters, AI/ML platforms, and cloud-native systems
Providing technical expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps workflows, automated configuration deployment, and advanced Linux systems administration for High Performance Computing (HPC) and AI/ML workloads
Maintaining 24/7 on-call availability as primary systems administrator for critical infrastructure support and incident response
Optimizing systems for Operations Research, Data Science, and modeling & simulation workloads
Administering job schedulers, parallel file systems, GPU computing resources, and high-performance interconnects
Managing enterprise storage and backup systems, including SAN/NAS administration, backup strategies, and data recovery procedures
Deploying, administering, and configuring multi-cluster environments using Kubernetes and container orchestration
Developing custom automation solutions for systems administration tasks and integration scripts
Creating reusable configuration templates and modules for complex infrastructure deployments

Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance
This position is designated by the Air Force as a testing designated position under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program and is subject to random drug testing
Position requires 24/7 on-call availability as primary systems administrator for critical infrastructure support and incident response
Expert knowledge of Linux systems administration, including advanced proficiency with RHEL, Ubuntu, and SUSE distributions in enterprise environments
Deep understanding of kernel internals, system optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting for HPC and analytical workloads
Current Linux certification (RHCE or equivalent) with expert knowledge of configuration management principles and practices, including configuration baselines, version control, change management, and compliance frameworks
Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and implementation using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef
Comprehensive knowledge of GitOps workflows and declarative configuration management
Comprehensive knowledge of HPC and analytical computing environments, including administration of job schedulers, parallel file systems, GPU computing resources, and high-performance interconnects
Experience optimizing systems for Operations Research, Data Science, and modeling & simulation workloads
Comprehensive understanding of enterprise storage and backup systems, including SAN/NAS administration, backup strategies, and data recovery procedures
Knowledge of distributed storage systems used in HPC environments
Expert knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration, including deployment, administration, and configuration of multi-cluster environments
Experience with Helm charts, Kubernetes operators, and custom resource definitions
Understanding of container security and configuration best practices, to include advanced knowledge of automation frameworks and scripting, including proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, YAML, and tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, and ELK stack
Experience developing custom automation solutions for systems administration tasks and integration scripts
Ability to create reusable configuration templates and modules for complex infrastructure deployments
