Supervisory Park Ranger (Protection) Deputy Chief Ranger
Grand Teton National Park is seeking a Supervisory Park Ranger (Protection) Deputy Chief Ranger to provide direct support to the Chief Law Enforcement Ranger. Responsibilities
Lead Law Enforcement Operations: Serve as the principal advisor on all aspects of the Visitor and Resource Protection program, ensuring the park's law enforcement mission is accomplished
Manage Emergency Services: Oversee and coordinate emergency operations, including mountain rescue, search and rescue, and interagency dispatch
Support Management and Administration: Assist the Chief Ranger in planning, directing, and supervising all facets of the Visitor and Resource Protection program
Foster Partnerships and Financial Management: Contribute to budget planning and execution and represent the Chief Ranger in negotiations with various agencies and organizations
Supervise and Develop Staff: Perform a full range of supervisory duties, including work planning, hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures
Qualification
Required
Must currently possess or previously held (within the past three years), a National Park Service (NPS) Type I Law Enforcement Commission
Prior law enforcement experience, gained by substantial service as a primary law enforcement position in the Federal government, or equivalent experience outside the Federal government
Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service
Experience includes activities such as managing or leading a law enforcement and resource protection program; evaluating law enforcement program activities based on funding; interpreting regulations and policy directives related to law enforcement and natural resource protection; reviewing law enforcement case reports; and performing law enforcement training/instructor responsibilities
U.S. Citizenship required and must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Selectee(s) must be free of any domestic violence convictions
Driver's License: must submit all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses
Incumbent is required to operate motor vehicles of various types, may be required to fly in small fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft, and may be required to operate and/or ride in small watercraft
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
You will be required to maintain a current Emergency Medical Responder or higher certification
Subject to pre-employment physical and drug testing
Selectee(s) will be required to carry a firearm while performing duties and maintain firearm proficiency
Required Occupant Position: as a condition of employment, employee will be required to reside in government assigned housing allowing for a quick response time to Moose, WY
Employee may be subject to a 1-year supervisory probationary period, if not previously completed
Applicants must be at least 21 years old
Benefits
Relocation expenses reimbursed: Yes—Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation. This reimbursement is taxable income.
A uniform allowance will be provided.
