Bus Technician / Mechanic I (3rd Shift - Thursday & Friday Off)

Regional Transit Service (RTS) provides safe and reliable transportation for nearly 8 million riders each year. They are seeking a Bus Technician / Mechanic I to maintain and repair buses and fleet vehicles, ensuring they are safe and operational for service.

Responsibilities

Maintain, repair, and overhaul RTS buses and fleet vehicles
Perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance
Replace and adjust parts; complete necessary test drives
Operate diagnostic equipment (e.g., Cummins InSite, Allison)
Perform welding, brazing, cutting torch work, and operate tow truck as needed
Report safety concerns and equipment issues to supervisor
Other duties as assigned

Required

Two (2) years in an accredited diesel mechanics program or comparable technical coursework OR Equivalent, verifiable work experience (two years may substitute for one year of education)
Must have own tools
Must obtain NYS CDL Class B permit with passenger & air brake endorsements prior to start; CDL-B license required within 90 days
Must obtain CDL Class A permit & towing endorsement (may be after hire); CDL-A required within 90 days of permit
Must pass post-offer physical
English proficiency required for safety, communication, and use of manuals/instructions
