Senior Environmental Engineer

Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including Clean Water, Waste, Air Quality, Pollution Control, and other applicable standards
Conduct environmental inspections (e.g., NESHAP FF, generator hours, opacity, Leak Detection and Repair [LDAR]) and perform environmental sampling
Plan, oversee, and review source testing for plant emission units
Support key environmental programs, including hazardous waste management, stormwater, and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC)
Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies and maintain online compliance databases
Collect, track, and analyze environmental data to support compliance and continuous improvement initiatives
Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and coordinate ongoing permit renewal processes
Collaborate with the legal team on permit documentation and compliance matters
Oversee the site’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, including energy use, production, and air emissions
Lead meetings, produce agendas and minutes, and manage communications with the Southwest Clean Air Agency (SWCAA) regarding permits
Implement and manage construction, NSPR, and BACT permits
Develop and maintain air-related programs, forecast regulatory changes, and provide training to management and operations teams
Execute environmental programs, follow established guidelines, and independently resolve issues when necessary
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
Min. 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in a chemical plant or industrial setting
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies
Experience with Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), SPCC, and hazardous waste management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to identify gaps in existing programs and develop solutions to ensure compliance and sustainability

Work outdoors in varying conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals, vibration)
Perform field activities: walk long distances, climb ladders, carry equipment (up to 50 lbs), bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and work in confined spaces or at heights
Frequent repetitive motions and occasional fine hand work; operate vehicles and tools
Work around heavy equipment while wearing required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, boots, hard hat, hearing protection, respirator)
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
