Area Chief Engineer - 4 Portland/South Portland - Maine Course Hospitality Group Hotels
Maine Course Hospitality Group is seeking an Area Chief Engineer to support their South Portland and Portland hotels. The role involves providing hands-on engineering and maintenance support across four properties, ensuring high-quality operations while fostering teamwork and collaboration among maintenance staff.

Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day engineering & maintenance support across four hotels, stepping in where expertise is needed
Work alongside each property’s maintenance techs with respect and collaboration, offering guidance, training, and problem-solving support and keeping our guest experiences as a Top priority in all daily tasks
Keep equipment and building systems in great working order through proactive, thoughtful maintenance
Assist with planning and carrying out capital projects, larger repairs, and long-term improvements within our hotels
Partner with hotel leadership to maintain safety, compliance, and reliable operations, always acting with integrity
Help strengthen communication and consistency across all properties, contributing to a positive, family-like team culture and living our MCHG values each and every day
Bring a sense of pride—and bringing a little fun as well to the work daily, strengthening the experience for both associates and guests
Oversees all maintenance operations for the assigned properties, ensuring systems and equipment are functioning efficiently and safely
Responsible for preventive maintenance programs, departmental leadership, and coordination with vendors and contractors
Maintains a clean, safe, and well-functioning facility for guests and team members
Qualification
Required
Experience as a Chief Engineer, or similar senior engineering role, ideally in hospitality or a comparable setting
Strong hands-on technical skills, including experience with HVAC, outside cooling tower set up, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical and other building systems
Someone who can comfortably move (and drive) between properties, prioritize their workload, and stay organized /make a list of daily tasks and prioritize the least number of OOO rooms and allowing sell out at each hotel
A clear, respectful communicator who enjoys working with a variety of people and coaching others
A self-starter with a strong sense of integrity, responsibility, and follow-through
Ability to travel between the Portland and South Portland hotels as part of the role
Usage of Quore and prioritizing daily tasks between hotels and support in-hotel efforts to better daily operations and ensure guest satisfaction
Flexibility in scheduling to meet the demands of our 24/7, 365 operation
The ability to take and respond to 'after hours' calls as they come up
Must be able to walk/stand a total of 8 hours per day
Must be able to drive between the hotels with a clean driving record
Must be able to lift 50–75 lbs
Must be able to carry 35–50 lbs. up to 200 ft
Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level, kneel, grasp, push, and pull
