Quality Inspector I (Swing Shift)

The Quality Inspector I is responsible for conducting various inspections and ensuring compliance with quality management system requirements while maintaining quality records and managing calibration status of gages.

Responsibilities

Prioritizes inspections to perform based upon workload and job priorities
Inspect product at received from suppliers as needed
Inspect product In-Process (1st Piece) as provided by the operator. Inspector checks the product against the print, work order (notes) and other pertinent documentation using applicable measuring tools and test equipment
Alerts the operator of deviations found in the inspection
Creates and compiles quality records as defined by the Quality Management System and/or by Customer specific requirements
Records inspection results into the designated location
Responsible to manage Calibration status of gages in the facility so that all gages will be maintained in-calibration status (with the support of the Calibration Coordinator in San Jose). Informs the calibration coordinator in San-Jose when new gages are purchased
Trains operators and other personnel with the requirements of the QMS
Makes sure that the facility is compliant to QMS requirements such as: only controlled documents are printed, reference gages are marked as such, line clearance is done regularly, rejected parts are tagged, segregated, and processed in a timely manner etc
Undertakes additional responsibilities or activities as required by the Quality Manager Sheet Metal
Assists the Director of Quality in maintaining of ISO 9001 certifications

Required

1 year previous Inspection experience
1 year manufacturing fabrication experience
Knowledge of measuring tools: Fabrivision, Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gage, and Test Indicator
A good understanding of mathematics
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Familiar with quality management systems and calibration
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and able to manipulate documents using Adobe Acrobat or Fox it
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
Ability to perform Medium work and Heavy Work as defined by the physical requirements
