The Lead Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing engineering solutions to meet electrification and decarbonization needs, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electric transmission and distribution systems.

Responsibilities
Lead and support cross-functional teams in the development, implementation and management of new or evolutionary solutions and technologies, specifically in areas such as electric system planning, DER integration, network access, and grid modernization
Engage appropriately with specified stakeholders, government agencies, consenting authorities and media within the development phases of a project
Input to the development of the engineering perspective of new business concepts
Complete the definition of technical specifications in relation to a range of technologies
Determine the options to be considered for the project at initiation to satisfy the need case for investment
Ensure that a robust basis of design is produced for each scheme which documents the reasons for the investment, the options considered, costs and program
Represent the company on industry and regulatory working groups as appropriate. Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives
Provides support to other areas of National Grid such as Electric Operations, Regional Control Center, Distribution Planning, Transmission Planning, etc
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school required
Preferred Major in Electrical Engineering
10 years of related experience
Knowledge of relevant industry practice, standards and legislation
Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation
Proactively makes changes to improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness of processes; for example, challenge existing engineering procedures and highlight areas for improvement
Possesses positive expectations for team members and expresses regard for them
