Assistant Director, Tartan Scholars Program – Student Academic Success Center - Office of the Provost

Responsibilities
Engage Tartan Scholars to support academic success, retention and personal development, including: determining and interpreting student support needs on an individual basis; monitoring academic progress each semester and progress towards degree, and supporting Tartan Scholars experiencing academic concerns; lead programmatic efforts for Tartan Scholars experiencing academic challenges and serve as the program’s point of contact for Scholars on leave from the University for personal and/or academic reasons; initiate referrals to appropriate resources within the Success Center and across the University, managing intentional handoffs and follow up referral efforts for Tartan Scholars; collaborate with Success Center partners to manage academic resource initiatives (e.g. Six Weeks to Success)
Collaborate with the Director on signature Tartan Scholar initiatives that define the Tartan Scholar experience, including: summer connections with incoming Scholars, the Pre-Fall Experience, the Winter Conference and Senior Celebration. Advocate for issues impacting students' ability to navigate systems and thrive successfully. Work collaboratively with the Director and Success Center colleagues to plan, develop, implement, and assess day-to-day initiatives that define the Tartan Scholar Experience; recruit and supervise the student Family Ambassadors, who serve as peer mentors for small groups of first-year Scholars
Represent the Director in meetings and collaborations as needed; collaborate with colleagues in Enrollment Management, Student Affairs and the University’s six undergraduate colleges on the development of the Tartan Scholar experience; develop, in collaboration with campus partners, new initiatives
Support the comprehensive efforts of the Student Academic Success Center, including piloting new collaborative initiatives, contributing to data collection, assessment, and impact analysis for the Tartan Scholar Program, and developing partnerships that support the holistic student experience; contribute to the creation of Tartan Scholar related content for the newsletter and social media presence
Evidenced by committee participation and volunteering at university wide events and initiatives that provide both professional and personal development while engaging in the life of the university
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in education, leadership, sociology, psychology, human relations, or related field
Three to five years of relevant work experience. Progressive responsibilities in an academic support environment is preferred
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
