Director of Operations

Cérélia North America is seeking a Director of Operations to contribute to the success of their manufacturing site. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring safety and quality, and leading a team to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in the plant.

Responsibilities

Assumes personal responsibility for a safe and healthy workplace for all employees by actively participating in the leadership of plant safety programs and ensures adherence
Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained
Responsible for oversight of facility, EHS, operations, Food Safety and Food Quality. Identify and address conditions or practices that may adversely affect any of the mentioned
Provide overall leadership, direction, and coordination for all plant operations
Evaluate business unit capabilities, skills, and resource alignment to ensure performance against objectives. Lead realignment and work redesign efforts as necessary to provide executional excellence
Ensure all plant personnel are operating in compliance with plant and corporate procedures as well as compliance with customer and regulatory regulations
Provide coaching and development of plant staff to ensure effective leadership, collaboration, and balance in achieving KPIs focused on safety, quality, customer service and productivity
Drive overall supply chain capabilities by managing the plant-wide implementation of key KPIs and team development
Identify and implement strategies to improve performance, in order to meet and exceed plant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Monitor and set standards for operations and help identify and correct bottlenecks
Foster an environment of continuous improvement that meets or exceeds division expectations
Establish clear performance and behavioral expectations for all employees
Deliver effective change leadership, driving business changes while minimizing people impact
Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to assist the team in solving operational issues
Builds people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for front-line hourly and salaried personnel
Increase production asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs
Plan and supervise the design and progress of capital projects
Develop and implement financial and non-financial objectives including annual budget that serves as the plants operating plan
Identify and coordinate improvements in the operations area necessary to meet commitments for the plant and cost objectives. Ensure that cost gaps are identified, action plans developed, and adequate resources allocated to meet all financial objectives

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Preferably in engineering, business, operations management, or similar field
Ability to manage multiple projects of varying priorities simultaneously
Ability to interface effectively with plant personnel, outside contractors, and different functional groups within the business units
Working knowledge of quality systems, finance, capital planning, and project cost tracking and forecasting, statistical process control, and manufacturing management systems
Demonstrated leadership in safety & environmental compliance
Must be very effective working in a volatile and complex environment and work with a sense of urgency that drives effective results
Strong influence management and communication skills, ability to gain organizational buy-in
High levels of analytical and financial skills, ability to use data to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities and accurately assess financial impacts
Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of an organization
Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications
Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision making
Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others
Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills

Preferred

Lean Six Sigma Experience preferred, demonstrated by successful completion of a major improvement project
Experience in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry preferred
