Product Counsel

Global X ETFs is a New York-based provider of exchange-traded funds, seeking a highly motivated Product Counsel to support international ETF distribution and regulatory analysis. The role involves working closely with senior legal counsel and cross-functional stakeholders to assist with ETF product launches, maintenance, and compliance with cross-border regulations.

Responsibilities

Serve as the day-to-day legal contact for international distribution inquiries across Europe, APAC, LatAm, and the Middle East
Advise on cross-border marketing rules, registration exemptions, and distribution frameworks
Coordinate with foreign affiliates and local counsel on drafting/negotiating selling and licensing agreements, as well as preparing internal legal and regulatory reporting on international distribution activities
Develop and maintain regulatory matrices, jurisdictional trackers, reporting packages, and standardized board materials related to cross-border risks and global distribution footprint
Assist with drafting Form N-1A, annual updates, and ongoing disclosure support for ETF filings
Coordinate with product, operations, marketing, and external counsel
Provide research and drafting support to senior attorneys
Provide legal support on Investment Company Act of 1940 (“1940 Act”) matters under senior attorney supervision
Assist with the preparation of board materials (legal updates, memos, resolutions) and support board/governance processes, including minutes review
Review vendor, service provider, and fund-related agreements (custodian, administrator, index providers, distributors)
Support regulatory inquiries, internal legal projects, and corporate legal support tasks, including IP, immigration, and routine corporate governance filings/records

Required

J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar or eligibility for NY in-house registration
2–5 years of legal experience in the 1940 Act is required (law firm experience preferred)
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to drive workstreams independently
Requires strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate regulatory issues into practical, business-oriented guidance
Must be adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Preferred

Experience or strong exposure to ETFs and cross-border distribution is highly preferred
